🔍 What to Expect
This is not your average presentation, this is an immersive, boots-on-the-ground experience.
During the tour, you’ll:
- Explore the state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF)
- Walk through active solid waste and recycling operations
- Visit areas like:
- Tipping floors
- Sorting and processing equipment
- Baling and storage areas
- Active landfill operations
- Household hazardous waste facility
- See how materials move through the system—from disposal to reuse
The tour includes both indoor and outdoor components, including walking through operational areas and climbing stairs.
💡 Bonus: There may be an opportunity for a brief presentation on topics like the circular economy or mixed-waste processing.
🦺 Safety & PPE
Your safety is a top priority—this is an active industrial site.
Provided on-site (or bring your own):
- Hard hats
- Safety vests
- Eye protection
- Optional steel-toe shoe covers
REQUIRED ATTIRE:
- Closed-toe shoes (mandatory)
- Full-length pants
- Comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a little dirty
- Shoes suitable for walking up to ~1 mile
❗ Attendees who do not meet attire requirements will not be able to participate in the tour.

- The facility can be loud, dusty, and odorous—it’s a real working environment.
- You’ll be near heavy equipment and large vehicles, so situational awareness is key.
- Strong magnets used in processing equipment may affect pacemakers or electronic devices.
ALL ATTENDEES MUST:
- WATCH A SAFETY VIDEO PRIOR TO ARRIVAL
- SIGN AND BRING A LIABILITY WAIVER

Tours begin and end in the Administrative Building conference room
Expect:
- Walking
- Outdoor exposure
- Stair climbing (elevator available with advance notice)
- Groups may be split into smaller teams depending on attendance
🚗 Parking & Arrival
Park at the WPWMA administrative office: 3013 Fiddyment Road, Roseville
You may park in:
- Any available standard space
- Reserved WPWMA spaces
- Designated bus/loop areas
🚘 Carpooling is highly encouraged due to limited parking.
