Purpose

The PWX Registration Stipend program provides financial assistance to Sacramento Chapter members to help offset the cost of attending the APWA International Public Works Congress and Exposition (PWX). This is the eleventh year the Chapter has offered this program.

About PWX 2026

PWX 2026 will be held in Houston, Texas, August 30 – September 2, 2026.

Stipend Coverage

This program may cover up to the full cost of early bird PWX registration, dependent on the number of applicants and stipends awarded. The Chapter may also reimburse recipients for the Region 8 Chapters Dinner, in full or in part (estimated cost: $75–$90).

Important: Per APWA National policy, PWX stipends are considered taxable earnings. Recipients must submit a completed W-9 before payment is issued. Stipend payments are made after the conference, upon submission of proof of purchase and attendance.

Early bird registration deadline: June 30, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Applicant must be a current APWA member in good standing (paid membership).
2. Members who have received 2 or more stipends over the last 5 PWX conferences are not eligible.

Schedule

Application

The application form includes five short-answer questions (2–3 sentences each). Responses are required for consideration:

1. What benefit do you or your organization expect to receive from attending PWX?
2. What specific sessions or educational topics do you plan to attend?
3. Describe your recent (1–2 years) involvement with the Sacramento Chapter. New members and YP members should describe their interest in getting involved.
4. Is financial assistance a determining factor in your attendance?
5. Have you previously received a stipend through this program? If so, how many times?
